    01.10.2024 - One of our team members Nicklas Jansson published an article together with a group of material specialists from Linköping University in Sweden. In the article they describe how the rare flower chafer Protaetia mirifica produce the shiny blue colour of its body. The beetle lives in old hollow oaks in Turkey: Dual chiral structures in the cuticle of Protaetia mirifica analyzed with Mueller matrix spectroscopic ellipsometry.

    23.09.2024 - Our team has colaboration with the world specialist on the Darkling beetles (Tenebrionidae) Fabien Soldati from the French National Forest Entomology Laboratories and together published a paper with new information of new and rare darkling beetles from Turkish oak forests: Contribution to the knowledge of darkling beetles from Türkiye, with four new country records (Coleoptera, Tenebrionidae).

    16.05.2021 - Our member Nicklas Jansson described the work done in Turkey during his long period of collaboration with Turkish colleges to describe the biodiversity of old Turkish oak forests: The unknown Turkish oak landscapes – A threatened biological culture heritage.

    15.05.2021 - A cooperation with another large team of researchers across Europe and Turkey (in total 16 study regions) resulted in two articles: 1. Comparing the situation for forests (green infrastructures) across Europe and what we can learn from historical and current landscape transformations. 2. How the current meeting places and social capital supporting rural landscape stewardship across Europe. Added on publications section.

    10.05.2021 - Our team at Baliksesir University have recently published three articles describing the saproxylic beetle fauna on old oak and beech trees in Balikesir region. Added on publications section.

    01.10.2017 - New study visit: In July 2017 a tour for taking photos of oak habitat, trees and insects in Gülnar region was made. A travel report can be found here.

    01.09.2017 - New study: A new study of the wood living beetle fauna in Gülnar region during 2017. In the end of April window traps was set in 60 pollarded oaks. The aim with the study is to learn how important the age of the trees is for the beetle diversity. The Phd student Serdar GÖKTEPE from Mersin University will manage the study in field.

    18.04.2016 - Our ornithologist team member Adam Bergner and PhD Student Serdar Göktepe from Faculty of Forestry at Süleyman Demirel University in Isparta have just started up a new project about the bird diversity of Turkish oak habitats. The field work is being carried out in the ancient oak landscapes near Gülnar in Mersin Province.

    13.04.2016 - Sorting of the beetle material from our trap studies on old hollow oaks in Gelendost, Eğirdir has started. So far, the results look promising!
